• Northwest Environment Watch (NEW) is an independent, not-for-profit research and communication center based in Seattle. Founded in 1993 by Alan Durning, NEW's mission is to promote a sustainable economy and way of life in the Pacific Northwest. Also called Cascadia, the Northwest is a bioregion that includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia, and adjoining parts of Alaska, Montana, and California.
