Multiple sovereignty is the principle by which different regions adopt their sovereign(s), and the sovereigns of different localities are integrated politically at the level of the central government as co-equals. As an example, areas of British Columbia could retain the British royal family as sovereign, while others could adopt a republican model where the people are sovereign. At the federal level, a Lietenant Governor appointed by the British monarch and a popularly-elected Governor would exercise reserve powers together.
